The Casa del documentario Città del Sole, situated in the medieval village of Monterone, in the province of Arezzo, is a residential facility fully equipped for the production of documentary films, providing cameras, an editing and post-production studio, screening room and internet service. The Casa plays host to a series of initiatives designed to further the promotion of documentary cinema such as meetings and seminars for professional filmmakers,  festivals, publications, productions and co-productions. Activities are also being planned that will involve the general public.
The goal is give documentary filmmaking greater visibility and offer professionals in this field a chance to get together, in a guest house environment that fosters the fertile exchange of knowledge and creativity.
Particular relevance will be given to relationships with the accademic world, which currently uses the documentary format for research as well as in teaching. Eventually through these links the Casa del documentario plans to be able to offer university credits.
